Thurso Pipe Band

Official Charity Beneficiary

Thurso Pipe Band is a community pipe band based in Thurso, Caithness, Scotland. The band competes at grade level and participates in community events, parades, and Highland Games throughout the year.

How Funds Are Allocated

50% of the prize pot

Exactly 50% of all paid entry fees collected are donated to Thurso Pipe Band. This allocation is applied before any prize money is calculated. If 20 players pay £10 each, the total pot is £200, and £100 goes directly to Thurso Pipe Band.

Only paid entries contribute

Free entries do not contribute to the prize pot or the charity donation. Only the £10 paid entry fees form the pot. Free entry players play alongside paid players and are scored identically — they simply do not contribute to the financial pool.

When funds are transferred

The charity donation to Thurso Pipe Band will be made within 28 days of the final group stage match being completed. Transfers will be made via bank transfer directly to the Thurso Pipe Band bank account, or by cheque made payable to Thurso Pipe Band.

Transparency & Audit

The organisers are committed to full transparency in the management of funds. The total number of paid entries, the resulting prize pot, and the charity amount will be displayed publicly within the app on the Leaderboard and Prize Pot pages throughout the competition.

Upon request, the organisers will provide documentation confirming the donation has been made. Any participant may request this confirmation within 60 days of the competition concluding.

About Thurso Pipe Band

Thurso Pipe Band was formed to promote and preserve the tradition of Scottish pipe music in the far north of Scotland. The band comprises pipers and drummers of various ages and experience levels, from beginners to experienced competitors.

The band participates in the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA) competition circuit and represents the Thurso community at local events, Highland Games, and civic occasions throughout the year.

Donations go towards instrument maintenance and replacement, travel to competitions, and supporting band members who may need financial assistance to participate.
